I want to make much of you Jesus

I love this song...because I believe it's the cry of my heart and I praise God also when I hear my daughter sing it...thanking Him for allowing her to learn to play the piano and giving her a heart to praise Him.  Chelsea is currently our church pianist and God did amazing things to bring us to this place and give her this responsibility.

Truth Talk

Little man has gotten to the point in our lives with him where he is able at times to calm himself down in his room for a few minutes without going into a rage and I am thankful.  However it seemed that sadness was his predominant emotion over things going wrong (usually precipitated by being frustrated at things that didn't go right for him...shoes, socks, toys etc. that don't cooperate).  We've taught him "TWO CHOICES"...1..ASK FOR HELP or 2. FIND SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO DO and reminded him of those choices (while holding up 2 fingers as a reminder) since repetition helps him.

But one day recently he was up in his room murmuring sad things and I prayed God would help me know what to do.  Then He showed me...teach him the same way..through repetition the truth of the situation.  So a dear friend made this sign after that day that we posted in his room...not to give himself "self talk" about the situation but "Truth Talk" about what God's word said is true of the situation based on Philippians 4:8 which admonishes us to think about things that are true and right.

Jesus loves me (Jeremiah 31:3b:  "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you")

Jesus will help me (Hebrews 13:6  "So we can confidently say 'The Lord is my helper' I will not fear; what can man do to me?")

I will feel better soon (This hard thing isn't forever...II Corinthians 4:16-18 "So we do not lose heart though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.  For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison)

And then I realized how much I needed to remind myself of the same things often too..so my friend made one for me to celebrate Fall :)

Mom can I give God a hug?

We've noticed for a long time that Corey is very willing to hug others and sometimes it concerns us as we intervene when it comes to strangers.  Corey is very affectionate but we have been paying attention and although he is not super affectionate to those closest to him, when someone smiles at him or shows approval he wants to respond by hugging them.  It's almost as if to say "you smiled..do you like me??"

So realizing all of this made me smile even more this week.  Corey and I were going over a Cubbie's AWANA verse..."I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made"...I told him this means God made Him very wonderfully and that's when he says "Mom, can I give God a hug?"  YES Corey some day we will.  "Mom, can I hold His hand?"  YES Corey and when God sees you He would take you in his arms and tell you how special you are "Like you do Mom?"  YES Corey.....
